Privacy policy

The short version: no accounts, nothing you type ever leaves your device, and the only thing measured is anonymous visit statistics.

The short version

  • There are no accounts and no sign-up. There is nothing to log into and nothing for you to agree to.
  • The one outside service the site uses is Google Analytics, which counts page visits — the next section covers it.
  • Google Analytics sets two cookies (_ga and _ga_G98QKB9ZX5) when it is allowed to count you. This site sets no cookies of its own.
  • Nothing you type into a calculator is sent anywhere. The arithmetic happens in your own browser, and your figures never even reach the address bar.
  • The only thing this site stores is a little of your own data, on your own device — the three items are listed below, and that is the whole of it.

Google Analytics

Every page loads Google Analytics 4, Google's free statistics service, which counts visits: which page was opened, roughly where in the world from, and something about the device and browser. It cannot tell who you are — no names, no email addresses, no accounts — and nothing you type into a calculator is ever part of it, because those figures stay in your browser.

Visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland are asked first, and are counted without cookies until they answer — or for good, if they say no. Everyone else, and anyone who says yes, gets Google's two cookies, _ga and _ga_G98QKB9ZX5. Google keeps the statistics on its own servers, which may be outside Australia, and is the only company that receives them: Google's privacy policy has the detail.

What is stored, on your device

Three things, all in your browser's local storage. None of them is ever sent to this site, and none can be read by it.

  • Your theme choice (saved under the name cozycalcs:theme:v1) — whether you picked Auto, Light or Dark in the header, so the next page you open looks the same. A few bytes, and no personal information at all.
  • Your budget (saved under the name budget-app:v1) — only if you use the Budget tool: the income, expenses, categories and week start that you entered. It is written to your browser and nowhere else.
  • Your analytics choice (saved under the name cozycalcs:analytics:v1) — whether you allowed visit counting, so the question is not asked again on that device. One word, either granted or denied.

All three exist to make the site work the way you expect, not to identify you. Clearing your browsing data removes them; the Budget page also has a Delete all data button, and a Back up my data button that writes a file you keep yourself.

What the server sees

Like every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps a record of the requests made to it: which page was asked for, the date and time, and the IP address and browser that asked. That is ordinary server logging, done by whoever hosts the site, and used to keep it running and to deal with abuse — not to build a picture of anyone.

This site does not use those logs to identify you, does not combine them with anything else, and has no way to connect them to what you typed into a calculator, because that never left your browser.

Who else is involved

Google, and only Google. Google Analytics — the visit counting described above — is the one outside service the site uses, along with whoever hosts the pages for us. There are no social widgets or embedded videos, no comment systems, no mailing lists, no payment processors and no external fonts: the site uses the fonts already on your device, which is why it looks plain and loads quickly.

The only dealings with another company at all are the links in the footer and on the about page: Instagram and TikTok. Following one of those leaves this site and arrives at theirs, where their own privacy policy applies. Nothing about this site follows you there, and nothing of theirs is loaded here to track you before you click.

Children

This site is not aimed at children. It asks nothing of anyone — no names, no ages, no email addresses, no accounts — and the only data that exists is the visit counting described above, which says nothing about who anyone was or how old they were.

Your control over your data

Nothing you type reaches this site, so there is nothing of yours here to hand over, correct or delete — we never had it. What does exist is your own settings on your own device and the statistics Google holds, and you can clear both yourself, at any moment:

  • In the Budget tool, Settings → Delete all data clears your entries; Back up my data writes a file first if you want to keep them.
  • Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything at once, including the saved theme. That takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
  • To change your mind about being counted, use the Analytics settings link in the footer of any page. Blocking google-analytics.com or installing Google's opt-out add-on stops it just as well, and the calculators work exactly the same either way.

If this ever changes

This page changed on 10 October 2026, when visit counting through Google Analytics was added; before that date the site collected nothing at all. If something else is ever added that collects data — an email list, advertising — this page will say so in plain words before it starts, and the date below will change again. As things stand, this page describes everything that happens: anonymous visit statistics held by Google, your own settings held on your own device, and nothing else.
