Terms of service
The rules for using this site, in plain words — and no longer than they need to be.
Using this site
CozyCalcs is free to use, for yourself or in your work. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to buy. In return, use it like a reasonable person would: do not attack or overload the site, do not scrape it hard enough to spoil it for everyone else, do not present the calculators as your own, and do not use the site to break the law.
Linking to any page of this site is welcome, and no permission is needed.
Estimates, not advice
Every tool here is an estimate and a teaching aid. The results are not financial, tax, legal or credit advice, and no part of this site is a substitute for advice from someone who knows your circumstances and is licensed to give it.
The calculators work from what you type and from the assumptions written on each page. They cannot know the rate you will actually be offered, the fees your lender adds, the deductions you can claim, or what the market does next. Before making a decision that matters, check the figures against the source: the loan contract, the ATO, your payslip, your own bills.
What the calculators assume
Each page lists its own assumptions, and they are worth reading — they are where most of the difference between these figures and your real ones comes from. The common ones across the site:
- A loan keeps one fixed interest rate for its whole term, and interest is charged once per period rather than daily.
- No fees are included unless the page gives you a box to type them into, and no tax, inflation or investment costs are counted.
- Investment growth is a steady rate you choose, every year. Real returns vary, and a year can be negative.
- Nothing is backdated or carried between accounts: each tool works on the numbers you give it and nothing else.
Change the inputs and you will see how much those assumptions matter. That is the point of the pages, and the reason every calculator shows its working.
Your data is yours
Anything you type into the Budget tool is stored in your own browser, on your own device, and nowhere else — see the privacy policy. That means nobody else can see it, and it also means nobody else can look after it: it is not backed up on a server, and it cannot be restored if it is lost.
Use Back up my data to keep a copy somewhere safe, and remember that clearing your browsing data removes everything the site has stored. CozyCalcs is not responsible for data lost from your device.
The code, the words and the design
The calculators, the text and the design of this site are © CozyCalcs. You are welcome to use the results of a calculation however you like, including in your own work, and to quote a short extract with a link back to the page it came from.
Copying the site wholesale, or republishing the calculators as your own, is not allowed. If you would like to use something here in a way these words do not cover, ask — the answer is usually yes.
No warranty, and the limits of liability
The site is provided as it is. Every effort goes into getting the arithmetic right — the maths is checked, and it is written out on the page so you can check it too — but no promise is made that a result is correct, complete or suitable for your purpose.
To the extent the law allows, CozyCalcs is not liable for any loss or damage arising from using this site, from relying on a figure it produced, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes, and which law applies
Tools may be added, changed or retired. These terms may change as the site does; the version on this page is the one that applies to your use of the site, and the date below records when it last changed.
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. If something here is unclear, or you disagree with it, please get in touch before relying on your own reading — the contact page has the address.
